10 Indonesian Stations Favorite with Foreign Tourists

Holiday Ayo - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) recorded a total of 89,166 foreign tourists in August 2025, a record high in the past two years.
KAI Vice President of Public Relations Anne Purba stated that, of the various train stations across Indonesia, 10 stations were favored by foreign tourists.
"Every foreign customer who chooses trains brings a positive story about Indonesia to the world. This is part of KAI's transformation commitment to supporting the government's vision through Astacita 2045 to provide equitable, connected, globally competitive infrastructure and a green economy orientation," said Anne, as reported by Kompas.com, Thursday (9/10).
Anne added that the number of foreign tourists traveling by train throughout 2025 was observed to have increased compared to the same period the previous year, when 517,528 foreign tourists were served.
"This increase proves that long-distance trains are increasingly trusted by foreign tourists as a safe, comfortable, efficient, and environmentally friendly mode of transportation for exploring Indonesia's beauty," said Anne.
She added that this achievement marks KAI's position as the new face of modern Indonesian transportation, playing an active role in boosting the tourism sector and the regional economy.
So, which stations are the favorites of foreign tourists in Indonesia?
According to KAI data, Yogyakarta Station was the favorite station for foreign tourists throughout 2025, surpassing Gambir Station in Jakarta, which came in second.
This station was the highest departure point, with 103,620 foreign tourists.
After that, Gambir Station served 90,102 foreign tourists, and Bandung Station recorded 55,459 foreign tourists.
Anne said that these three stations are the main gateways to top tourist destinations such as Borobudur Temple, Malioboro, and the Lembang tourist area.

1. Yogyakarta Station: 103,620 foreign tourists
2. Gambir Station: 90,102 foreign tourists
3. Bandung Station: 55,459 foreign tourists
4. Pasar Senen Station: 30,420 foreign tourists
5. Surabaya Gubeng Station: 24,164 foreign tourists
6. Malang Station: 21,403 foreign tourists
7. Semarang Tawang Station: 17,941 foreign tourists
8. Probolinggo Station: 17,449 foreign tourists
9. Surabaya Pasar Turi Station: 10,974 foreign tourists
10. Solo Balapan Station: 10,297 foreign tourists.
