11 KRL imported from China are targeted to arrive in Indonesia in early 2025
Holiday Ayo - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI is targeting 11 trainsets (series) of KRL imported from China to arrive in Indonesia in stages in early 2025.
VP Public Relations KAI Anne Purba said, upon arrival in Indonesia, the entire series of trains will be tested first before being used. for the public.
“So in the first semester of 2025, we are targeting those from China, all of which are already in Indonesia. But this requires trials, no passengers and passengers to ensure that the infrastructure and facilities are perfectly connected," said Anne as quoted by detik.com, Friday (9/8).
Anne said that her party was coordinating with the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) regarding the design and technical specifications of the imported KRL.
He said, until now there is nothing related to the design and technical specifications.
“Everything is okay. Then we will wait for production, and we hope that in 2025, trains from China and also from INKA will arrive," he said.
Previously, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI would add 8 new KRL imports from China to a series of trains or trainsets worth IDR 2.20 trillion.
KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo said that the import of 8 new KRLs needed to be carried out to meet the needs of the Jabodetabek KRL fleet in 2025.
This is because the retrofit of 19 old trainsets by PT Industri Kereta Api (Persero) or INKA was reduced to only 2 trainsets.
“In 2025 there will also be 3 imported trains and retrofit trains as well as the addition of 8 new trainsets to replace the retrofits which were not included in the calculation yesterday, from 19 to just 2," he said during the RDP with Commission XI DPR RI, Jakarta, Monday (1/7).
The 8 new KRLs will be re-imported from CRRC Shifang. Previously, KCI had signed a contract to import 3 new KRLs from China Railway Construction Corporation (CRRC) worth IDR 783 billion on January 31 2024. Thus, KCI will import 11 new trainsets from CRRC Shifang in 2025.
