19 people died as a result of Hurricane Fengal hitting India and Sri Lanka

Holiday Ayo - The number of fatalities due to Hurricane Fengal rose to 19 people consisting of three Indians and 16 Sri Lankans on Saturday (30/11) local time.
In India, Cyclone Fengal caused flight schedules at several airports in the city of Chennai to temporarily stop on Saturday.
However, conditions reportedly began to return to normal on Sunday (1/12) local time. The Indian government on Monday (2/12) also deployed rescue troops to search for seven people, including five children who were declared missing.
According to local authorities, the victims are thought to be in a landslide caused by heavy rains caused by Cyclone Fengal in the state of Tamil Nadu.
"Heavy rain has loosened the ground, causing the large rock to fall. Rescue operations are continuing despite bad weather conditions," said an Indian official, Bhaskar Pandian, as reported by The National.
In Sri Lanka, according to the Colombo Disaster Management Center, Hurricane Fengal also caused severe damage to public facilities, forcing as many as 138 thousand residents to flee to safer places.
Of this number, as many as 470 thousand other residents are reported to be taking refuge in temporary refugee camps, as quoted by Reuters.
Storm Fengal initially hit the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu on Saturday local time, causing heavy rain, flash floods and landslides.
Then, this storm headed towards Sri Lanka via the Bay of Bengal at a speed of approximately 2000 kilometers per hour.
