2 People Killed and 4 Injured Due to Russian Attacks on the Ukrainian
Holiday Ayo - Border Russian airstrikes on the Ukrainian border town of Sumy kill two people. The attack also left several other people injured early Sunday morning.
“As a result of the airstrike, two people were killed, (and) four others were injured, including two children," the region's military authorities said in a statement, reported by AFP, Sunday (9/8).
“Necessary medical assistance was provided to the injured," the statement added.
The mayor of Sumy, Oleksiy Drozdenko, said houses and vehicles were also destroyed in the attack.
“All services are on site," he said in a post on Telegram.
Sumy lies just across the border from Russia's Kursk region, where Kyiv launched a surprise attack on August 6, aimed in part at creating a "buffer zone" inside Russia.
The attack early Sunday came more than a week after another fatal attack in the city that killed two people and injured eight others.
Regional authorities said that residents in 183 Sumy settlements near the Russian border were urged to evacuate, and tens of thousands of others in the area had done so.
