211 Fleet of Ships will Serve Homecomers in the Riau Islands
Holiday Ayo - Ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1445 H, a fleet of 211 ships will serve homecoming traffic throughout the Riau Islands Province (Kepri).
Head of the Batam Transportation Service (Kadishub), Junaidi, said that the entire fleet was spread across roro ship ports in Batam, Tanjungpinang, Kijang (Bintan) and Karimun.
“For the roro port in Punggur Batam, the total fleet prepared by PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry is 14 roro ships. Meanwhile, at the Sri Bintan Pura (SBP) Tanjungpinang port, the fleet is 51 ships. The ship will serve Batam, Lingga, Tanjung Batu, Natuna and Selat Panjang," he said recently.
He also explained that the number of ships in Batam's two domestic ports, namely Punggur and Sekupang, was 98 ships, with routes to Tanjungpinang, Lingga, Karimun and also other areas in Riau.
The Pelni ship, namely KM Dorolonda, will also transport travelers from Batam to Kijang, Medan. Apart from that, there is also the Malahayati Training Ship bound for Kijang, Matak and Natuna.
“For the weather, based on BMKG predictions, the waves are normal with a height of 1-1.5 meters in the waters around Lingga and Natuna. So it is quite safe to cross," he explained.
Head of KSOP Tanjungpinang, Ridwan CH said that his party continues to make preparations to anticipate a surge in the flow of homecoming travelers.
One of them is by establishing an Integrated Post for Eid Transport 2024.
“This integrated post aims to ensure the safety and security of passengers, and will last until April 26 2024," he concluded.
