3 Exciting, Creative & Healthy Traditional Indonesian Games

Holiday Ayo - Indonesia has cultural diversity, therefore each region has unique and interesting customs and culture. One of the cultural products is traditional games usually played by children.

However, the variety of traditional Indonesian games is now being eroded, because today's children choose to play gadgets or video games. Even though traditional games have many benefits, you know.

Playing traditional games can train children's creativity and train their motor skills. Children will interact with each other and will help with communication skills.

1. Cublak Cublak Suweng

Cublak cublak suweng is a traditional Indonesian game originating from Central Java. This game requires more than two players. Apart from that, the tools needed are pebbles or any object that can be fully grasped by the hand.

The way to play is simple, namely one player bends down and faces downwards and acts as the guesser, while the remaining players place their hands openly on the bent player's back.

All the players who put their hands down sing the song "Cublak Cublak Suweng" while moving the pebbles that are passed in turns. When the Cublak Cublak Suweng song is finished being sung, the player who received the last pebble must hide the object by holding it.  Meanwhile, the player who bowed must guess which of the players is holding the pebble.

2. Rubber Jump Rope Game

The fourth traditional game is jumping rope. The rope used for playing usually uses rubber which is connected one by one so that it becomes long.

After that, the end of the rubber is tied and you are ready to use it to play jump rope. This game is usually played by more than two people and there are two people who will be in charge of holding the rope. However, if no one wants to hold the rope, you can tie it to a pole or tree.

The way to play is, put the rope from the bottom, then jump, and so on until the rope is placed above your head.

If you can't jump, you have to start again from the lowest level. The winner of this jump rope can tell the loser anything, just don't do anything weird!

3. Traditional Game of Stilts

The sixth traditional game is stilts. This game is popular in the Jakarta area. It's not easy to play stilts, only people who are skilled enough and are used to maintaining balance when playing them.

Stilts are two long sticks with a divider in the middle. The way to play it is by climbing onto the stilts, if you fall the player will be punished.

But, you have to be careful, if you are not used to it, you have to ask for guidance from an expert to prevent accidents.
