Holiday Ayo - Apple is back with its latest innovation by launching the iPhone 16 Series, which is ready to amaze gadget fans around the world. 

Currently, the iPhone 16 was released in Indonesia on April 11, 2025, but the ordering period at a number of official distributors was opened earlier since March 28 yesterday. 

With its arrival, users might be interested in buying. The iPhone 16 series, which consists of the iPhone 16e, the "regular" iPhone 16, the iPhone 16 Plus, the iPhone 16 Pro, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max, is the latest iPhone series for now.

The iPhone 16 series has also just been sold in Indonesia after being banned for seven months.

Even though it is the latest iPhone series and has only just been sold in Indonesia, is the iPhone 16 worth buying?

If you want to buy it, there are several things that are important to consider first. Here are some considerations before buying the iPhone 16:

Considerations before buying the iPhone 16 In general, users do not need to buy the iPhone 16 in a hurry, especially if they are currently using the iPhone 15 series.

The reason is, the improvements and updates brought to the iPhone 16 feel less significant, aka ordinary.

1. Use the old design 

One of the updates that may be quite striking in the iPhone 16 line is the design of the “non-Pro” version of the iPhone 16.

The regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus use a different design from the previous three generations of iPhone models. 

Although different, the design of the iPhone 16 does not mean it is completely new. The regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have a back design like the iPhone 11, which was released five years ago. 

The two rear cameras of the iPhone 16 are arranged vertically, no longer diagonally like on the iPhone 13, iPhone 14, and iPhone 15. 

This rear camera placement design is reminiscent of the design on the iPhone 11. Meanwhile, the design of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max generally looks the same as its predecessor.

2. Stingy 120 Ghz screen 

In the screen section, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max get an update, which is wider than the previous generation. 

The screens of the two iPhones are widened by about 0.2 inches. The iPhone 16 Pro has a 6.3-inch screen span, up 0.2 inches from the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro screen. 

Then, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch screen span, which is also up 0.2 inches from the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max screen. 

The specifications of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in the screen sector have only increased in size.

Despite this increase, Apple is still stingy in providing a screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate on the regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.

The specifications of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus in the screen section are similar to the two previous models.

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus screens do not yet support ProMotion Display. This 120 Hz refresh rate feature has become a mandatory feature on most flagship phones because it supports more responsive touch and screen movement.

3. Battery and chip upgrades, but the camera is still the same

One of the specifications improvements that can be quite proud of the iPhone 16 series is the chipset.

The regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus use a new chipset, namely the A18, which is one level higher than the iPhone 15 "Pro" version.

For your information, since the iPhone 14 was released, the chipset on the "non-Pro" iPhone models has used the chipset used in the previous generation "Pro" iPhone. 

For example, the regular iPhone 14 uses the A15 chip like the iPhone 13 Pro. Then, the regular iPhone 15 uses the A16 chip like the iPhone 14 Pro. 

However, on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, the chipset usage pattern has changed to before, where the new iPhone still uses the new chipset. 

Meanwhile, to differentiate it from the "non-Pro" version, Apple uses the A18 Pro chip on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

In addition to the improved chip, the battery of the iPhone 16 series has also improved. Like new smartphones in general, the iPhone 16 series has also experienced improved specifications in battery life.

The iPhone 16 is claimed to have a battery that lasts for playing videos for 22 hours, an increase of 2 hours from the iPhone 15.

Then, the iPhone 16 Pro has a battery that lasts for playing videos for 27 hours, an increase of 4 hours from the iPhone 15 Pro.

The battery life of the iPhone 16 Pro Max has also increased from its predecessor. The iPhone 16 Pro Max battery lasts for playing videos for 33 hours, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max only lasts for 29 hours.

Then, the iPhone 16 Plus battery can play videos for 27 hours, an increase of 1 hour from the iPhone 15 Plus.

Unlike the chipset and battery, the camera specifications of the iPhone 16 series unfortunately have not been improved. 

On paper, the camera specifications of the iPhone 16 series are similar to its predecessor. For example, on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, both are equipped with a 12 MP front camera (f / 1.9). 

Then, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are equipped with two rear cameras, namely a 48 MP main camera (f / 1.6) and a 12 MP Ultra Wide camera (f / 2.2). 

Then, for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, both have a 12 MP front camera (f / 1.9). Then, both have three rear cameras, namely a 48 MP main camera (f / 1.78), a 48 MP Ultra Wide camera (f / 2.2), and a 12 MP Telephoto (f / 2.8).

Although the specifications are the same, Apple fortunately brings a number of new features to the camera sector.

For example, 4K Dolby Vision video recording, macro photography for photographing close-up objects with high detail, and Spatial Audio recording.

The main camera on all four iPhone 16 series models also has a new sensor or system called Fusion, which allows users to access the 2X Telephoto option using the main camera.
