6 Whoosh Pillows Stolen by Passengers, This is Their Specialty

Holiday Ayo - Pillows with special technology on the Whoosh Fast Train are stolen. PT KCIC said that the missing pillow had happened 6 times.

PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC) also explained the special features of the pillow.

KCIC General Manager Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa said the pillow facilities provided on each Whoosh seat aim to increase passenger comfort during the trip.

However, the actions of a number of passengers who opened and removed pillows from train seats had a number of negative impacts that need to be of common concern.

Through an official statement, Saturday (27/7), Eva said that the pillow was also designed with special specifications that have high technology.

“The pillows and passenger seats are made of fire-resistant material so that in an emergency, various potential dangers can be minimized. Even though it is small, this incident is quite detrimental to the company and other passengers," said Eva.

KCIC regrets the behavior of passengers who do not maintain the pillow facilities on the seat backs of premium economy class trains on the Whoosh series.

All passengers are advised not to remove or take the pillows on the backs of train seats. According to Eva, up to July 2024, there have been six incidents of missing pillows from Whoosh chairs.

He said the entire case could be traced through 44 CCTVs available on each train set. Based on CCTV search results, there were passengers who deliberately removed the pillow from the seat back.

Then, in several cases there were also individuals who were suspected of deliberately taking the pillow. Eva claims that her party has now obtained data on the perpetrators based on CCTV footage.

The latest incident of pillow theft occurred on Whoosh number G1247 on the Halim-Tegalluar route departing July 11 2024.

This was discovered when the fast train stopped at the final station and service officers checked for cleanliness and items left behind.

“It was found that one premium economy seat on train number 6 was not equipped with a head pillow," said Eva.

He said that the act of removing or taking away pillows on train seats resulted in damage to facilities and reduced passenger comfort.

This can also prevent other passengers from enjoying the facilities to the fullest. According to him, if the pillow on a train seat is lost, then KCIC needs to procure and replace the pillow.

As a result, additional operational costs were incurred for KCIC. In fact, these costs could have been used to improve other services.

KCIC appeals to all passengers to follow the rules and not damage public facilities such as removing pillows on train seat backs.

All acts of destruction of facilities on the Whoosh train can be guaranteed to be monitored via CCTV.
