A video showing a Civil Servant (ASN) of the Surabaya City Government allegedly playing online gambling during working hours has gone viral on social media and sparked widespread public outrage.

The footage has been circulating on TikTok, Threads, and Facebook. Based on posts from the TikTok account @mata_publik_ and Threads account @jatimnetgroup, the video shows a man wearing the official uniform of the Surabaya City Government engrossed in an online gambling application on his phone. The location is suspected to be within the Surabaya City Government office area, specifically around the Surabaya Raya Darmo area.

The incident reignited concerns over the prevalence of online gambling within the bureaucracy, even during official working hours.

Netizens strongly condemned the behavior of the individual in the video, with many comments stating that the act damages the public image of civil servants and involves the use of government working hours for illegal activities.

As of this report, there has been no official statement from the Surabaya City Government or the Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD). If proven true, the civil servant in question may face severe disciplinary sanctions in accordance with regulations, including the possibility of dishonorable dismissal.

This incident serves as a reminder for all civil servants to uphold integrity and refrain from engaging in illegal activities, especially in the workplace.
