China Issues Yellow Alert for Snowstorms, Cold Wave

Holiday Ayo - China’s meteorological authority on Monday (11/25) issued a yellow alert for snowstorms, with snowstorms expected to hit parts of the country’s northeast.

From 8 a.m. Monday to 8 a.m. Tuesday (11/26) local time, snowstorms will hit parts of Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning, according to China’s National Meteorological Center (NMC).

Some areas in Liaoning will see 20-25 millimeters of snowfall during the period.

The NMC has advised pedestrians and drivers to exercise extreme caution during the snowy weather and urged local authorities to take precautions regarding the use of roads, railways, electricity and telecommunications.

The center also renewed its yellow alert for the cold wave on Monday, when much of central and northern China will see temperatures drop by between 6 and 10 degrees Celsius over the next four days.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe weather, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
