Civilian Aircraft Nearly Crashes After SpaceX Rocket Explodes in Mid-Air
Holiday Ayo - The failed test launch of Elon Musk's SpaceX rocket earlier this year nearly endangered several civilian aircraft.
New documents from the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reveal that the mid-air explosion of a Starship rocket created a vast debris field that threatened the safety of civilian aviation in the Caribbean.
This information was revealed in a report reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.
Fortunately, there were no fatalities or aircraft damage in the incident.
According to FAA documents, the seventh unmanned Starship test flight was "destroyed" less than 10 minutes after launch from Texas last January.
The explosion scattered large pieces of debris across the sky, directly in the flight paths of several commercial airliners and private jets.

A Kompas.id article by the FAA noted that two commercial airliners and one private jet, carrying a total of approximately 450 passengers, were in a dangerous situation in the air for nearly an hour.
One of the aircraft was a JetBlue flight bound for San Juan. The flight crew was even warned that the trip would be extremely risky.
Air traffic controllers were overwhelmed. Furthermore, two other flights—an Iberia Airlines plane and a private jet—had to be warned by air traffic controllers to reroute after they flew too close to each other following the explosion.
The planes were forced to leave the no-fly zone abruptly as “air traffic controllers desperately tried to direct the aircraft to safety,” according to the report, as quoted by The New York Post, Sunday (December 21).
The situation reached an emergency level when one of the pilots repeated the “mayday” call three times to air traffic controllers.
The pilot eventually managed to make an emergency landing in San Juan.
The FAA confirmed that all three aircraft landed safely without damage or injuries to passengers and crew.
In its findings, the FAA also alleged that SpaceX allegedly failed to notify air traffic controllers immediately after the explosion via the official hotline.
Air traffic controllers in Miami only learned of the debris after receiving a report from another pilot who was forced to fly through the area.
Starship's failed launch: Starship, known as the most powerful rocket ever built, launched from Texas and flew for about eight minutes before ground crews lost contact with the 120-meter-tall spacecraft.
Minutes later, mysterious debris was spotted in the Caribbean sky and captured on camera.
The failed mission in January came just days after Musk launched the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under President Donald Trump.
