Confident of winning the 2024 US presidential election, Harris chooses Tim Walz as vice presidential candidate

Holiday Ayo - Kamala Harris has reportedly chosen Tim Walz as her vice presidential candidate to compete in the 2024 US Presidential Election.

She has officially appointed the Governor of Minnesota. In a text message to supporters, Harris said she was thrilled to announce her choice.

“Tim is a battle-tested leader who has an extraordinary track record of getting things done for Minnesota families," Harris said Tuesday (6/8).

In a telephone conversation, Harris told Tim Walz that they were underdog presidential candidates. However, Harris, who is currently US Vice President, believes that they can win the presidential election.

“We are the underdogs in the 2024 presidential election. But together we have a superior message about reducing the cost of living for the middle class and protecting freedom," said a source citing a conversation between Harris and Tim Walz.

On that occasion, Harris also asked her supporters to fully support her campaign to defeat Donald Trump in the November 5 presidential election.

“Now, would you donate $20 to welcome Tim as our running mate? We're counting on your direct support to defeat Donald Trump and JD Vance," he said.

“It means a lot to me, to Tim, and to our family to have you on our side," the Democratic presidential candidate added.

A number of sources say Harris and Walz have been close for a long time. The Minnesota governor is also a favorite staffer on the campaign team for women of Asian descent.

“(Their) familiarity is very important and it's a great fit," said a source close to Walz.

The source further said the time they spent together while Walz was campaigning for re-election in 2022, and when they visited an abortion clinic in March of this year, appeared to have had a big impact.

“In addition, the Harris campaign, like all of us, saw how influential Walz was to his base," he said.

Harris was also impressed by Walz's cheerful, good-luck attitude. Harris also seemed to feel increasingly comfortable with the Minnesota governor in the final days of the selection process.
