Holiday Ayo - After a long-awaited anticipation, the hit Korean drama Signal has officially been confirmed for a second season. This highly popular series, which first aired in 2016, will once again feature Kim Hye Soo, Jo Jin Woong, and Lee Je Hoon in leading roles.

According to a report from Soompi on Wednesday (March 5, 2025), tvN has officially announced, "Signal, a critically acclaimed drama, will return with The Second Signal (working title). Production has begun, and the series is scheduled to premiere in the first half of next year."

Signal, which originally aired in 2016, follows a team of detectives who use a mysterious radio to communicate with the past in order to solve long-unsolved cases. Upon its release, the series' final episode achieved an impressive nationwide average rating of 13.4 percent, cementing its status as one of tvN’s most successful dramas.

In the second season, Kim Hye Soo, Jo Jin Woong, and Lee Je Hoon are confirmed to reprise their roles. Additionally, Kim Eun Hee, the screenwriter behind the first season, will return to pen The Second Signal. However, there will be a change in the director’s seat, with Ahn Tae Jin (The Night Owl) stepping in to helm the series.

One of the biggest mysteries that has captivated fans is the fate of Detective Lee Jae Han (Jo Jin Woong), who disappeared 15 years ago in the first season. The previous ending hinted that the character might still be alive, leaving audiences eager to see how the story will unfold in the upcoming season.

The production team stated, "As a token of appreciation for the immense love and support for the first season, we are preparing Season 2 with a deeper and more thrilling storyline. We hope viewers will look forward to The Second Signal."

Meanwhile, Lee Je Hoon is currently starring in The Art of Negotiation, which is set to premiere on March 8, 2025, on tvN. Kim Hye Soo, on the other hand, recently completed her drama project Unmasked, available on Disney+.

With Lee Je Hoon and Kim Hye Soo making their much-anticipated return, The Second Signal is set to be one of the most awaited action-thriller dramas. The series is scheduled to air in the first half of 2026.
