Fierce Mongoose vs Cobra duel on the runway causes flight delays

Holiday Ayo - A fierce fight involving a cobra and a mongoose took place on the runway at Jay Prakash Narayan Airport, in Patna, Bihar, India.

This situation caused flight schedule delays. The flight had to be postponed after the pilot saw the two animals fighting in the middle of the runway.

Several videos circulating when the incident occurred also went viral on social media. Netizens are even curious about who the winner will be at the end of the fight between the two animals.

In the video taken from the plane window, a cobra can be seen attacking a mongoose, which it quickly dodges.

The fight seemed quite balanced, until two other mongooses came to help their friend fight the poisonous snake.

It is not known who won, but it seems that the mongoose is superior because it has supersonic reflexes, its skin is also thick, and this animal is known to have immunity to cobra venom.

Experts have estimated these adorable-looking creatures can win 75-80 percent of the time in fights with cold-blooded enemies.

According to the Economic Times of India report, fights between these two animals often occur in the wild, where both compete to get the same prey or perhaps prey on each other.

Cobras prey on baby mongooses, while mongooses often hunt and eat cobras. In fact, this long-standing rivalry between animals became widely known through Rudyard Kipling's 1894 short story entitled 'Rikki-Tikki-Tavi'.

In this story, a brave mongoose defends its human master from a cobra attack that threatens his life.
