Found Dead in Spain, This is the Last Message from Beckham's Former Bodyguard
Holiday Ayo - Craig Ainsworth, David and Victoria Beckham's former personal bodyguard, was found dead in Spain.
The sad news was conveyed directly by his mother, Sally Ainsworth, via a post on social media last weekend.
Ainsworth, a former Royal Marine from Enfield, North London, was previously reported missing and is being searched for by police in the Alicante and Barcelona areas.
His mother revealed that Craig suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and had uploaded a farewell message on her Facebook account.
"Craig has been found. It is with great sadness that the world has lost Craig," wrote Sally.
"He served in Afghanistan and suffered from PTSD."
In the post, she also included a photo of her son in military uniform with a short caption: "Rest in peace, Craig."
Craig, who was estimated to be 40 years old when he died, had worked as a bodyguard for the Beckham family between 2013 and 2015 when they lived in the Holland Park area, London.
In addition, he is also known to have protected a number of Hollywood stars such as Johnny Depp, Jennifer Lawrence, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In his last message on Facebook, Craig wrote about the deep pain he had experienced since the pandemic.
He said that the lockdown had destroyed everything he had built, including the loss of 11 friends who died by suicide in 16 months.
"I lost extraordinary people who I was proud to have as friends and colleagues," he wrote.
"I live with good intentions, not a perfect person, but I do live life."
Craig also apologized to his two beloved dogs, Lilo and Stitch, for leaving them early.
“We'll play together again on the other side," he wrote.
In October 2023, Craig published a biography titled The Discombobulated Alpha which tells his life journey from a bullied child in London, to a Royal Marine commando, a celebrity bodyguard, to the founder of a mental health community called Virtuous Savage.
The community aims to help individuals deal with mental disorders, build resilience, and develop their potential.
In his role as a coach, Craig is known for encouraging others to "destroy limiting beliefs," "build resilience under pressure," and "create unwavering momentum."
Until now, there has been no official information regarding the exact location and cause of Craig Ainsworth's death.
