Get to know the Harau Valley in West Sumatra

Holiday Ayo - West Sumatra Province has many natural charms, ranging from hills, mountains, waterfalls, canyons, beaches, lakes and rice fields.
One of the popular tourist destinations in Tanah Minang is the Harau Valley. Harau Valley is a nagari located in Limapuluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra.
From Bukittinggi, the distance is around 50 kilometers which can be reached in 90 minutes. This Nagari has an area of up to 270.5 hectares, with cliffs 100-500 meters high surrounding it.
Well, the existence of this towering cliff is what makes it liken the Hokage cliff in Konoha Village. However, apart from its similarity to Konoha, Harau Valley also has its own charming beauty.
The Minangkabau traditional book, Tambo, calls Limapuluh Kota Regency a land of clear water with tame fish swimming in its rivers.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy website, it is said that the Harau Valley originates from the bottom of the ocean.
This is because the rocks in the hills are of the type breccia and conglomerate which are usually found on the seabed.
The age of this rock is estimated by researchers at 40 million years, and it contains organic carbon, as the rock is formed from the remains of organisms.
Apart from its charming beauty, the Harau Valley has been designated as a Wildlife Reserve and Nature Reserve.
One of the rare animals that inhabit it is Macaca fascicularis or long-tailed monkey. There are also six waterfalls lined up here, one of the most popular is Akar Berayun Waterfall with a height of 200 meters and is the highest in the Harau Valley.
Apart from that, there is also the Sarasah Murai Waterfall which has steps up to seven levels. Meanwhile, Harau Valley also offers thematic tours.
There is Harau Sky which includes a waterpark, restaurant, photo spot, and accommodation in the middle of Lempah Harau.
Other thematic tours that can be visited are Minang Traditional Village, Korean Japanese Village, Harau Dream Park, Batang Tabing Waterpark, and European Village.
