Quoting Vn Express, he faces a prison sentence of up to five years and a maximum fine of 100,000 baht or around IDR 44 million.
The Italian restaurant owner filed a complaint after his restaurant's Google Maps rating plummeted from 4.9 to 3.1 stars.
The investigation revealed several recent one-star reviews, one of which was from the 21-year-old tourist.
The Mirror reported that based on the police report, this incident was triggered by a personal conflict between the tourist and the restaurant owner.
He wanted to use the restaurant as a gateway to his condominium in Phuket, but the restaurant owner refused.
To get revenge on the restaurant owner, the tourist allegedly asked his friends to flood the restaurant with one-star reviews, causing its rating to drop.
