Holiday Ayo - Whenever we think of Japan, the main destinations that always come to mind are Tokyo and Osaka. But did you know that there are more interesting things in Japan than those two big ones? Especially for nature lovers – Japan has it all! Apart from Mount Fuji which is clearly popular, Japan also has the very beautiful island of Hokkaido.
This island, located in northern Japan, has a treasure trove of beautiful natural views. Hokkaido has snow-capped mountains in winter, lavender fields in summer, and natural hot springs all year round. Nature lovers can go skiing, trekking and many other activities in the open air!
1. Shirogane Blue Pond
You've probably seen ponds in your hometown, but never one as blue as this! Shirogane Blue Pond is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Hokkaido, a stunning sapphire colored pond formed by the eruption of Mount Tokachi in 1989.
This pool reflects a different shade of blue every season, so many locals and nature explorers come here to admire the views that change every season.

Just a four-minute drive from Shirogane Blue Pond, Shirahige Falls is another extraordinary natural wonder that you must see in Hokkaido. This tourist destination offers an impressive view, which local residents call "White Beard Waterfall" because of its snow-white curtain of water. The view is even more spectacular during winter when the leaves on the trees turn to ice and the waterfall is crowned with ice.
