This pool reflects a different shade of blue every season, so many locals and nature explorers come here to admire the views that change every season.

2. Shirahige Waterfall

Just a four-minute drive from Shirogane Blue Pond, Shirahige Falls is another extraordinary natural wonder that you must see in Hokkaido. This tourist destination offers an impressive view, which local residents call "White Beard Waterfall" because of its snow-white curtain of water. The view is even more spectacular during winter when the leaves on the trees turn to ice and the waterfall is crowned with ice.

3. Lake Toya

This lake is famous as a lake that never freezes even during the coldest winters. You can enjoy many activities around the area while enjoying the beautiful views. Around this area, you can even see the active volcano, Mount Ushi, which last erupted in 2000.

4. Hoheikyo Dam

If you're traveling during autumn, one of the best places to visit in Hokkaido is Hoheikyo Dam. One of the “100 Best Dam Lakes” by the Japanese Forestry Service, Hoheikyo Dam has a natural landscape filled with blue lakes, lush mountains and forests full of maple trees. When visiting in the fall, you'll be surrounded by red, orange, and yellow leaves — a truly delightful experience.
