Honda is Preparing to Work on Indonesia's Electric Motorcycle Industry

Holiday Ayo - PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) will announce its electric motorcycle business strategy and roadmap this year. This is part of Honda's global target of realizing carbon neutrality for motorcycles, which states that there will be 10 electric motorcycle models by 2025.
As cited from Suara.com, AHM President Director Keiichi Yasuda said, AHM strives to continuously reduce CO2 emissions on motorcycles with internal combustion engines.
"AHM will be an important part in presenting electric motorcycle products that can provide carbon neutralization to the world as well as bring the joy of riding to the people of Indonesia," said Yasuda.
He also said that his party had collaborated with various parties in the research and development of electric motorcycles and their supporting infrastructure, including in the battery business chain.
"At the latest by the end of this year, we will inform the strategy and roadmap of Honda's electric motorcycle business in Indonesia," said Yasuda.
Honda is certain to present 10 models of electric motorcycles by 2025 and in the next five years Honda Motor Co. targets to sell 1 million units of electric motorcycles and by 2030, Honda is targeted to sell 3.5 million electric vehicles.
This strong commitment from Honda is part of the target of realizing the carbon neutrality of Honda motorcycles worldwide in the 2040s initiated by Honda Motor Co., Ltd.
Looking back, AHM's commitment has been born since 2019 by producing the Honda PCX Electric at the AHM factory in Sunter, North Jakarta. Honda PCX Electric is equipped with two portable battery units (Honda Mobile Power Pack) that can be recharged using two mechanisms, namely system swap and on board charging.
Presented by Executive Vice President Director AHM Johannes Loman, this step is following up on the government's policy on electric vehicles, the company will in the near future convey its plans and strategic steps in presenting electric motorcycles for consumers.
"We want to be able to immediately provide quality, safe electric motorcycles for consumers, and the best after-sales service support as we have implemented so far in accompanying people to realize their dreams through motorcycles with fuel," said Loman.
The Indonesian government's determination to enter the era of electric vehicles has been stated in Presidential Regulation Number 55 of 2019 concerning the Acceleration of the Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle Program for Road Transportation.
