How to Prevent Truck Tires from Exploding on Toll Roads, Drivers Don't Panic!

Holiday Ayo - Did you know that burst tires are one of the biggest causes of accidents on toll roads?

So how do you prevent a truck tire from bursting while driving on the toll road? Here are the tips.

Recently, a pickup truck loaded with hundreds of chickens had a single accident due to a burst tire, Saturday (14/9).

The truck rolled over and crossed the Jombang - Mojokerto toll road, KM 685 +500 A.

Ahmad Juweni, National Sales Manager TBR (Truck & Bus Radial) PT. Hankook Tire Sales Indonesia, highlights the importance of preventive measures to improve driving safety.

According to him, a tire burst is not only a technical problem, but is also a safety issue that can have a wide impact, because when a tire explodes in the middle of a trip, the risk of an accident involving other vehicles increases significantly.

Hankook Tire provides emergency steps that can be taken if at any time a commercial vehicle experiences a tire burst on the toll road, including:

1. Stay calm and don't hit the brakes all at once

First, try not to panic and stay calm so that the driver can remain concentrated.

"Don't step on the brake at once when the tire breaks, because the weight of the vehicle will rest on the broken tire. This can have fatal consequences because it reduces traction and causes the vehicle to lose control or skid," explained Ahmad.

2. Control the steering wheel and turn on the hazard lights

Second, hold the steering wheel with your hands positioned at 3 and 9 o'clock. Then, slowly steer the vehicle to the shoulder of the road.

"Immediately turn on the hazard lights to signal to other drivers that your vehicle is experiencing interference, so they will maintain a safe distance," added Ahmad.

3. Avoid maneuvers in the opposite direction

Finally, do not turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction from the position of the burst tire, as this can cause the vehicle to roll over.

When the rear tire breaks, it is usually easier to control than when the front tire breaks, because the front tire which is still functioning remains the focus of steering direction.
