Indonesia's Most Valuable Treasure Is Not Gold Mines, But This Is What Pope Francis Says
Holiday Ayo - Pope Francis said that mining is not the greatest wealth that Indonesia has. This was conveyed by the highest leader of the world's Catholic Church during a visit to the Istiqlal Mosque, Central Jakarta, Thursday (5/9).
“Indonesia is a large country, a very rich mosaic of cultures, ethnic groups, customs, diversity, which is also reflected in the diversity of the ecosystem and surrounding environment," said the Pope.
He then said, "And if it is true that you are home to the largest gold mine in the world, know that the most valuable treasure is the will so that differences do not become a reason for fighting."
The Pope then asked Indonesia not to waste this gift and not to impoverish itself from such enormous wealth.
He also hopes that no one will fall under the spell of fundamentalism and violence. On that occasion, the Pope also touched on the climate crisis currently facing the world.
According to him, humans are responsible for facing serious crises that threaten the survival of the future.
“In particular, wars and conflicts are unfortunately also triggered by religious exploitation. Also the environmental crisis is an obstacle for society," said the Pope.
The Pope is in Indonesia from September 3-6. While here, he attended meetings with the government, religious leaders, students and even a grand mass at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK).
