The case involving a dowry in the form of a Rp3 billion cheque given by Sutarman (74), widely known as Mbah Tarman, to his wife, Sheila Arika (24), continues to unfold. The Pacitan Police have confirmed that the cheque was counterfeit, leading to Mbah Tarman being officially named a suspect and subsequently placed in detention.

The suspect designation has also brought renewed attention to the elderly man’s past record. Pacitan Police Chief, AKBP Ayub Diponegoro Azhar, stated that investigators have charged Mbah Tarman under provisions related to document forgery.

He added that evidence secured by the police includes a flash drive containing videos and documents linked to the case, including a copy of the Rp3 billion cheque believed to be falsified.

Before the public, Mbah Tarman eventually revealed his motive for using the counterfeit cheque.

“So that my wife would agree. That’s all,” he said briefly.
