Manchester United to Build New 100,000-Seat Stadium, Leaving Old Trafford

Manchester United has officially announced plans to leave Old Trafford, their home for over a century, and move to a larger, state-of-the-art stadium.
The announcement was made via the club’s official Instagram account on March 11, 2025. The decision has received backing from legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who described it as a bold move for the club’s future.
The newly designed stadium will have a seating capacity of up to 100,000, making it the largest in England, surpassing Wembley’s 90,000-seat capacity. The new venue is planned to be built within the vicinity of Old Trafford in Manchester.
This project is the result of recommendations from the Old Trafford regeneration task force, which has been working for over a year and has involved extensive consultations with the club’s supporters.
Club co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe emphasized that the new stadium will serve as an iconic symbol of Manchester United, blending modern technology with historical elements that honor Old Trafford’s legacy. The project is part of a £7.3 billion investment plan to revitalize the Old Trafford area.
The construction of Manchester United’s new stadium is expected to cost approximately £2 billion and is slated for completion by the 2030/31 season. The design and construction process will involve renowned architect Norman Foster, ensuring that the stadium meets world-class sporting standards.
