The marriage between the age-gap couple, Mbah Tarman (74) and Sheila Arika (24), has once again drawn intense public attention. After previously going viral due to the extravagant dowry in the form of a cheque worth Rp 3 billion, Mbah Tarman has now been officially detained by the Pacitan Police.

The detention followed the elevation of his legal status from witness to suspect, in connection with strong allegations that the cheque presented as the wedding dowry was falsified.

Chief of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Pacitan Police, AKP Khoirul Maskanan, confirmed that investigators have obtained two pieces of evidence deemed sufficient to establish Mbah Tarman as a criminal suspect.

According to investigators, the results of examinations and expert statements indicated that the Rp 3 billion cheque was not identical to an authentic cheque. Discrepancies were discovered in the document structure, serial number, and the validity of the stated bank account.

The case came to light after the wedding of Mbah Tarman and Sheila Arika, held on Wednesday (October 8, 2025), went viral across multiple social media platforms. The public questioned the authenticity of the extravagant multibillion-rupiah dowry, prompting law enforcement to conduct a more in-depth investigation.

Mbah Tarman is currently undergoing further legal proceedings at the Pacitan Police headquarters. Meanwhile, there has been no official statement from the family of Sheila Arika regarding the latest developments in the case.

This case serves as a reminder that every form of transaction—including a wedding dowry—must be supported by documents or proof that are legally valid to prevent criminal consequences.
