Holiday Ayo - A Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, killed at least one person on Wednesday (12/2). 

“At the moment, one person is dead," Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said in a Telegram post, adding that at least three other people were injured. 

Reported by the AFP news agency, Wednesday (12/2), two people were hospitalized and one person was treated at the scene, he said in a subsequent post. 

Andriy Yermak, head of Ukraine's presidential office, said earlier that missile and air defense systems around Kyiv were working against incoming ballistic missiles. 

The attacks caused damage and fires in at least four districts of the capital, according to Ukraine's state emergency service. 

Both Russia and Ukraine are currently competing for battlefield advantages ahead of negotiations expected to begin early in US President Donald Trump's second term.
