Rebuilding Palestine, Prabowo and Erdogan Agree to Continue Defending Palestine

Holiday Ayo - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to continue defending Palestinian independence, and both are also committed to helping rebuild Gaza after it was devastated by Israeli military bombardments.

The commitment was included in a joint statement by President Prabowo and President Erdogan after the two completed a one-on-one meeting and a bilateral meeting at the Turkish Presidential Palace, Ankara, Thursday (10/4) evening local time.

 

"We appreciate Indonesia's stance on the Palestinian issue. In the near future, we will continue to work with Indonesia to rebuild Gaza and defend Palestinian interests," said President Erdogan.

 

On the same occasion, which was attended by Turkish and Indonesian national media, Erdogan also expressed his commitment to continue working with Indonesia in multilateral cooperation frameworks, including at the United Nations (UN), Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), G20, D8, and MIKTA.

 

The same commitment was also conveyed by President Prabowo when delivering a joint statement at the Turkish Presidential Palace.

 

President Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia and Turkey have one voice on issues concerning Palestinian independence, peace in Ukraine, and stability in Syria.

 

"We will continue to support Palestinian independence together. We also support stability in Syria, and peace in Ukraine. Both parties agree to continue to help each other in fighting for these things," said President Prabowo.

 

President Prabowo visited the Turkish Presidential Palace as part of a return state visit, after President Erdogan visited the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, February 12, 2025.

 

During the series of visits, President Prabowo and President Erdogan met face to face, then both led a bilateral meeting between the delegations of the Indonesian Government and the Turkish Government.

 

The two leaders then witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Indonesian Government and the Turkish Government, and delivered a joint statement.

 

The Indonesian Government delegation accompanying President Prabowo in Ankara consisted of Foreign Minister Sugiono, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Head of the Presidential Communications Office Hasan Nasbi, and the Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey Achmad Rizal Purnama.

 

President Erdogan was also accompanied by his ministers, one of whom was Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

 

After the main event was over, President Erdogan hosted President Prabowo and the Indonesian Government delegation for dinner at the Turkish Presidential Palace.
