SDIT Al-Izzah Faces Spotlight as Parents Reject Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG)
A number of parents at SD IT Al-Izzah 1 in Serang City have voiced opposition to the planned implementation of the government’s Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) within the school environment.
The objections were raised over concerns regarding safety and potential health issues if an MBG kitchen were to be established on school grounds.
Parents also rejected the foundation’s proposal to set up the MBG kitchen inside the school, arguing that such a move does not align with the system that has long been in place at SD IT Al-Izzah 1.
Their concerns were expressed directly during a public hearing with the Serang City Government, held at the Setda Hall on Monday (September 29, 2025).
"We support the government’s program, but its implementation is not appropriate at Al-Izzah. This school already has its own mechanism, while the MBG program should be prioritized for schools or regions that truly need it," said a parent representative after the hearing.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Arifin, Chairman of the SD IT Al-Izzah 1 Foundation, emphasized that the school merely acts as a technical executor of policies introduced by the central government.
