This synagogue used to be the largest synagogue in the North African region. Until Algeria became independent, almost the entire Algerian Jewish community moved to France, making now the majority of Algeria's population is Muslim.

This mosque was previously known as The Great Synagogue of Oran which was built in 1880 and inaugurated in 1918. Then the synagogue was changed to the Abdallah Ibn Salam Mosque in 1960. This name was given to honor a Jew who converted to Islam in the 7th century..

3. Notre Dame d'Afrique

The next popular tourist attraction in Algeria is also religious tourism, namely Notre Dame d'Afrique. Notre Dame d'Afrique is a Catholic church with magnificent architecture and was built in the late 1800s.

Notre Dame d'Afrique has a Neo-Byzantine building style that was influenced by France at that time. It took around fourteen years to build this church and this church was first opened in 1872. Notre Dame d'Afrique is located in the north of Algeria and faces the Algerian Bay.

4. The Maqam Echahid

The Maqam Echahid is a monument and an interesting tourist spot in Algeria that is worth visiting. This iconic monument was first unveiled on the 20th anniversary of Algeria's independence and is shaped like three palm leaves joined together to protect the eternal flame beneath.

This monument is about 92 meters high and consists of three palms, three Islamic towers with a diameter of 10 meters each and a 6 meter dome at the top. What's even more interesting is that The Maqam Echahid also has an amphitheater and underground space which is used as the El Mujahid Museum. This monument is located in a hilly area overlooking Hamma and was inaugurated by President Chadli Bendjedid in 1986.

5. Atakor

If you are interested in nature tourism, Algeria also has a number of interesting natural attractions to visit. One of them is Atakor. Atakor is a plateau in Ahaggar National Park.

Atakor presents a very beautiful view in the form of reddish brown hills dotted with steep cliffs. The beauty of the scenery in Atakor makes it look like something out of a fictional film.

Here visitors can enjoy views of Ahaggar National Park from the peak of the Atakor Plateau, namely Assekrem Peak. Assekrem is Tuareg language which means "end of the world". This is because the view is very beautiful from this peak without limits.
