Stumbling on International Drug Trafficking Case, Radja Nainggolan Released on Probation

Holiday Ayo - Professional footballer of Indonesian descent, Radja Nainggolan, was reportedly arrested by police in Brussels, Belgium, in connection with alleged cocaine smuggling on Monday (27/1) morning local time.
However, Nainggolan has now been released on probation. The investigating judge decided to release him after examining him, reported by L’unione Sarda, Wednesday (29/1).
Nainggolan is officially being investigated for alleged involvement in a criminal organization. However, according to his lawyers, Mounir and Omar Souidi, he was not questioned about drug trafficking.
Nainggolan was only asked to provide clarification regarding a sum of money given to several of his acquaintances.
The lawyers emphasized that the money had nothing to do with drugs and Nainggolan was also not being investigated for alleged money laundering.
The examination lasted for about an hour, Nainggolan was asked to explain the reason for giving the money.
His lawyers stated that Nainggolan is a generous person and often helps others financially.
However, investigators want to determine whether the money was used for illegal activities by the recipient.
According to the lawyer, the amount of money given was not large compared to Nainggolan's income during his career as a professional footballer.
Nainggolan spent one night in prison before being released. His lawyer said that the experience had a big impact on him and was very unpleasant.
However, they emphasized that Nainggolan did not commit a crime and has nothing to regret.
Currently, the investigation is still ongoing to determine whether there was a violation of the law in this case.
Authorities continue to investigate whether the money given by Nainggolan was used for illegal activities.
However, so far, there is no indication that the former Belgian international was directly involved in the crime.
Nainggolan has cooperated with investigators in providing information and hopes to clear his name from this accusation soon. Meanwhile, the police have not made an official statement regarding further developments.
