Thailand to Profit IDR 6.3 Trillion from Hosting the 2025 SEA Games

Holiday Ayo - The Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, or Minister of Youth and Sports, Kongsak Yodmani, stated that his country profited around 12 billion baht (IDR 6.3 trillion) from the 2025 SEA Games.

According to Kongsak, this figure will continue to rise as the Southeast Asian Games progress. He believes the economic value of the SEA Games could reach 14 billion baht.

“The 33rd SEA Games has increased the popularity of Thai sports and generated economic value of at least 12 billion baht," Kongsak said, as reported by Thairath, Friday (12/19).

As of Thursday (12/18), excluding today and the closing ceremony on Saturday (12/20), no fewer than 400,000 spectators attended the 2025 SEA Games.

Kongsak also claimed that the 2025 SEA Games would be much more vibrant than the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia.

The number of participants could be a benchmark. In this year's SEA Games, no fewer than 12,000 athletes participated in 50 sports.

The number of participating team officials was also said to have increased.

“Furthermore, the 33rd SEA Games also attracted many spectators, family members, sports fans from each country, and tourists who came to support their athletes," he said.

After the 2025 SEA Games, Thailand's sports ecosystem will also improve. Several upgraded sports facilities will support athletes' training paradigms.
