There is a Decrease in the Occupancy Rate of Star-rated Hotels in Indonesia in February 2025

Holiday Ayo - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded the room occupancy rate (TPK) of star-rated hotels in February 2025.
Deputy for Production Statistics of BPS, M Habibullah, said that the occupancy of star-rated hotels in February 2025 experienced a decline, both annually (year-on-year/yoy) and monthly (month-to-month/m-to-m).
“TPK of star-rated hotels in February 2025 reached 47.21 percent, or down 2.24 percentage points, compared to February 2024 (yoy), and down 1.17 percentage points compared to January 2025 (m-to-m)," said Habibullah, as quoted by Antara.
Based on BPS data, Jakarta became the province with the highest TPK in February 2025.
This was due to events, such as concerts and exhibitions that were held throughout February.
"Meanwhile, the remaining 18 provinces experienced an increase," he continued.
Even so, Habibullah said that there were at least 20 provinces that experienced a decrease in TPK in February 2025, compared to January 2025.
Meanwhile, the TPK of star hotels in the provinces of South Papua, West Papua, and Bali experienced the deepest monthly decline, falling by 13.63 points; 11.50 points; and 8.66 points, respectively.
On the other hand, the highest increase in TPK was recorded in North Kalimantan Province at 8.62 points, followed by Central Kalimantan and Jakarta, each increasing by 6.49 points and 5.57 points.
Cumulatively from January to February 2025, the TPK of star hotels reached 47.83 percent, down 0.26 points compared to the TPK in the same period in 2024.
In contrast to star hotels, the TPK of non-star hotels in February 2025 reached 23.17 percent.
Spatially, DKI Jakarta Province recorded the highest TPK of non-star hotels in February 2025, reaching 44.51 percent, followed by Bali (36.35 percent), and the Riau Islands (31.73 percent).
In addition, the TPK of non-star hotels in Indonesia decreased by 3.10 points, when compared to the same month in 2024 (yoy).
In the BPS release, some hotel classifications experienced an annual decline. The 5-star hotel TPK experienced the deepest decline, which fell by 5.14 points from February 2024 to February 2025.
Furthermore, if we look at the development from January to February 2025 (m-to-m), all hotel classifications experienced a decline.
5-star hotels experienced the deepest decline in TPK, which was 3.37 points, followed by a decline in TPK for 2-star hotels and 4-star hotels by 1.28 points.
Meanwhile, 3-star hotels experienced the smallest decline in TPK, which was 0.23 points.
