These 4 Indonesian Heroes Become Street Names Abroad
Holiday Ayo - Street names in Indonesia are often taken from the names of heroes of the Republic of Indonesia. This is done to commemorate and appreciate their services for the struggles they have done to fight for the independence of the nation.
However, it turns out that not only in Indonesia, several names of Indonesian heroes are also used as street names abroad. Who do you think these heroes are?

1. Ir. Soekarno

The first president and proclaimer of Indonesian independence, Soekarno, was not only respected in his own country. Soekarno is also highly regarded in the international world. The president who was born in Blitar, East Java, was also the initiator of the Asia-Africa Conference which wanted the nations of Asia and Africa to be fully independent.
Thanks to his noble services, Morocco made the name Ir. Soekarno as one of the street names in Rabat City, namely Rue Soukarno. This street, which was inaugurated on May 2, 1960, is the main link in the city.
2. Mohammad Hatta

In Harlem, the Netherlands, there is a street called Mohammed Hattastraat. The street, which was named after the first Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mohammad Hatta, was inaugurated in 1987. This became a form of respect and appreciation for the Dutch for the role of Bung Hatta, as he is familiarly called, in liberating Indonesia.
Bung Hatta also studied in the Netherlands and was active in an Indonesian student association called Indische Vereeniging. He and his friends, Suwardi Suryaningrat, Douwes Dekker, and Tjipto Mangunkusumo, became the pioneers of the independence movement organization.
3. R.A Kartini

Raden Ajeng Kartini is known as a hero who fights for the equal rights of Indonesian women. His name became more and more famous thanks to the letters of thought that he sent to his friends in Europe.
For his services and struggles, the name R.A Kartini was used as a street name in the Netherlands. What's more special, it's not only in one city, but four cities at once. These include the cities of Harlem, Amsterdam, Utrecth, and Venlo.
4. Sutan Syahrir

The name Sutan Syahrir was also taken to be used as three street names in the Netherlands, namely in Gouda, Leiden, and Harlem. Named Sutan Sjahrirstraat, the street is not far from Kartinistraat and Hattastraat which are the street names for R.A. Kartini and Mohammad Hatta.
Sutan Syahrir is Indonesia's first prime minister who was declared a national hero in April 1966. He is known as an intellectual figure and pioneer of Indonesian independence.
