Holiday Ayo - The management of the National Monument (Monas) admitted that they were reviewing extending its operational hours until 22.00 WIB, especially on weekends. 

“We hope that in the near future, Monas can be opened until 22.00 WIB, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, so that people can enjoy the beauty of Monas at night safely and comfortably," said Head of the Monas Area Management Unit (UPK), Isa Sanuri, in a written statement and quoted Monday (29/7). 

However, Isa admitted that he did not know when the policy regarding additional operational hours would be implemented. 

He said the restriction on operating hours until 16.00 WIB was implemented for the comfort and safety of visitors, because Monas is not only a tourist destination, but also a cultural heritage and vital national object. 

This policy has been implemented since mid-2022 after Monas was previously closed to the public when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020. 

“The safety and comfort of visitors is our priority. Considering the importance of the security aspect, especially in this political year, Monas operations are limited to no more than nighttime," he said. 

“This restriction is the result of coordination with the relevant security agencies to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors," he said. 

Currently Monas opening hours are only until 16.00 WIB. Visitors hope that Monas' operational hours can last until evening. 

Furthermore, his party is still analyzing the possibility of extending Monas' operational hours until 22.00 WIB, especially on Saturdays and Sundays.
