Tourist Attractions in Moldova, a Small European Country Full of Enchantment

Holiday Ayo - Have you ever heard of Moldova? Moldova is a small country on the European continent that is landlocked between Romania to the west and Ukraine to the east. During World War II, Moldova was still part of Romania and indeed the two countries had cultural similarities.

1. Chisinau

The first tourist spot in Moldova is the city of Chicinau. Chicinau is the capital of Moldova and also the largest city in the country.

Chicinau is a modern city but also friendly to tourists. Here you can find many interesting places such as art galleries, casinos, nightclubs, restaurants to Pushkin Park and the Orange Pyramids. You can also visit the Nativity Cathedral which is very popular in this city.

2. Old Orhei

The next tourist attractions in Moldova are also not far from Chicinau, namely Orheiul or Old Orhei. Orheiul Vechi is no less beautiful than Chicinau and this city is often visited by tourists because of its cultural beauty and rich history.

It seems that the city of Orheiul Vechi is perfect for those of you who like history but still want to enjoy the beauty of nature. The city faces the Raut River and there are bulls, ruins, monasteries, baths to caves that originate from the Dacians since 2000 years ago.

3. Cricova Winery

Cricova Winery is one of the tourist attractions in Moldova that you must visit. Cricova Winery is about 30 minutes from the city of Chisinau and is the second largest winery in the world.

You will find a 120-kilometer road above ground with underground tunnels that have existed since the 15th century. You can walk 100 meters underground and see around 1.2 million bottles of wine. This winery is very popular in Moldova and is always growing every year, so every visitor who comes there is obliged to bring home a bottle or two of wine to enjoy at home.

4. Tipova Monastery

The tourist attractions in Moldova that you must visit next are the Tipova Monastery. Tipova Monastery is a monastery that has three main complexes that have been excavated from the rocks that are on the banks of the Dniestr River.

The oldest complex in this monastery is the Church of the Feast of the Holy Cross which dates back to the 11th century. Then there are two other churches namely St Nicholas Church which was built in the 14th century and Horodiste which was built in the 16th century. You can follow the cave path where you will climb while enjoying the beauty of nature and beautiful waterfalls. The cave has monk cells which are quite large and can accommodate up to 700 people, but currently only less than 20 monks live there.

5. Curchi Monastery

Apart from the Tipova Monastery, another tourist spot in Moldova in the form of a monastery is Manastirea Curchi. Manastirea Curchi is a very beautiful monastery, because of its beauty this monastery has won an award in the nomination for the most beautiful monastery in Moldova.

The Manastirea Curchi complex consists of five churches, several monasteries, monks' cells and a refectory. This monastery has a Bessarabian style architecture which is very unique but interesting and beautiful. The centerpiece of this ordinary complex is the Mother of God Church which was built around the end of the 19th century. You can also explore this monastery while learning about its interesting history to explore.
