Firefighters from North Jakarta’s Fire and Rescue Department (Gulkarmat) were dispatched to respond to an unusual emergency involving a young boy. The child’s genitals had become trapped in the zipper of his pants, requiring special handling to safely resolve the situation.

The incident occurred on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at around 8:45 PM local time. The boy’s panicked mother immediately contacted North Jakarta’s fire department for assistance.

“The incident began when the mother tried to remove her child’s pants, but the zipper got stuck and pinched his genitals,” said Gatot Sulaiman, Head of Operations at the North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Department, in a written statement quoted Monday (May 5, 2025).

Three firefighters were dispatched to the scene and carried out the evacuation process at Tanjung Priok Community Health Center (Puskesmas). The officers used medical equipment and specialized tools to perform the procedure with utmost care.

In footage circulating online, the child’s mother can be seen holding him tightly throughout the delicate procedure. The firefighters worked swiftly and carefully until they successfully freed the trapped area.

The entire process took around 15 minutes and was successfully completed. Fortunately, the child was not seriously injured.

“The evacuation went smoothly and was successfully completed,” Gatot concluded.
