Holiday Ayo - Dewi Soekarno, who is known as President Soekarno's third wife, has just announced the formation of a new political party in Japan that focuses on animal protection called 12 Heiwa To.
This party takes its name from the Japanese word 'heiwa', which means peace, and the number 12 which is pronounced as 'wan-nyan', a term referring to dogs and cats in Japanese culture.
The main focus of this party is animal protection, especially in efforts to ban the consumption of dog and cat meat.
Dewi Soekarno, who obtained Indonesian citizenship after marrying Soekarno in 1962, was born in Tokyo on February 6, 1940 with the real name Naoko Nemoto.
After giving up her Indonesian passport, she plans to regain Japanese citizenship. In a press conference held in Tokyo on the same day, Dewi emphasized that the first and most important goal of her party is to pass a law banning the consumption of dogs and cats.
The 12 Heiwa To Party is committed to protecting dogs and cats, hoping to create a harmonious life between animals and humans.
In addition, they plan to establish an agency that will monitor animal cruelty and increase penalties for such crimes.
The party's campaigner, Shinnosuke Fujikawa, said their goal is to win at least two or three seats in Japan's Upper House.
