Wow! Indonesia is the World's Largest Hacker Den

Holiday Ayo - Indonesia has been listed as the country with the largest source of cyberattacks in the world, particularly in the form of DDoS attacks.

This position has held since Q3 2024. Previously, in the second quarter, Indonesia ranked second.

"Indonesia is the largest source of DDoS attacks, and has ranked first in the world for the entire year (since Q3 2024)," wrote Cloudflare in its Q3 2025 DDoS Threat Report, as quoted from the Cloudflare website.

Based on Cloudflare's map, here are the 10 largest sources of DDoS attacks in the world, ranked by rank.

Indonesia (Same)

Thailand (up 8 spots)

Bangladesh (up 14 spots)

Ecuador (up 3 spots)

Russia (up 1 spot)

Vietnam (up 2 spots)

India (up 32 spots)

Hong Kong (down 5 spots)

Singapore (down 7 spots)

Ukraine (down 5 spots).

Cloudflare recorded a significant spike in attacks in the third quarter of this year. DDoS traffic against artificial intelligence (AI) companies surged 347% month-on-month in September 2025.

This coincided with growing public concerns and regulatory scrutiny of AI technology.

Meanwhile, EU-China trade tensions, particularly over rare earth minerals and electric vehicle tariffs, coincided with a surge in attacks against the Mining, Minerals & Metals, and Automotive sectors during Q3 2025.

According to reports, throughout Q3 2025, Cloudflare automatically blocked 8.3 million DDoS attacks.

This figure equates to 3,780 attacks per hour, representing a 15% quarter-on-quarter increase and a 40% year-on-year increase.
