Zulhas’ Rice-Carrying Pose at Flood Site Sparks Outrage Among Celebrities
Minister of Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, has once again drawn major public attention after sharing documentation of his visit to flood-affected areas in Padang, West Sumatra. In the uploaded footage, Zulhas is seen accompanied by several officials, including his daughter — member of the House of Representatives, Zita Anjani — and actor Verrell Bramasta.
Their visit to the disaster zone was carried out to personally deliver aid to residents affected by the flash floods. However, one particular moment later became the subject of widespread discussion across social media platforms.
In the video, Zulkifli Hasan is seen carrying a sack of rice on his shoulder while walking toward the evacuation site. The scene triggered mixed reactions, including accusations of image-building from a portion of online users.
Not only the public, but several Indonesian celebrities also posted critical remarks in response to the widely circulated clip. Among those spotted commenting were Inul Daratista, Luna Maya, Indy Barends, and Shireen Sungkar.
“Absolutely cringe to see this, stop please this is,” wrote Luna Maya in a comment captured via screenshot and circulated online on Thursday (December 4, 2025).
Comedian Musdalifah also delivered a sarcastic jab:
“Your tears aren’t dramatic enough, sir.”
The controversy has since sparked a broader discussion on officials’ communication styles during disaster situations and the sensitivity required when documenting humanitarian activities in the public sphere.
