Jalesveva Jayamahe Monument, Historical Tourism Building in Surabaya

Holiday Ayo - Jalesveva Jayamahe Monument is a historical tourist building located in the city of Surabaya. This monument is also known as the Monjaya Monument. Located on the north coast of Surabaya stands to remember Indonesia's maritime glory.

Currently, the monument area is one of the most famous educational tourist attractions in Surabaya. In addition, the building also functions as a lighthouse for ships sailing around it.

In the 85 meters high building, tourists can see and learn the history of the maritime world of Indonesia. Built-in 1990, the statue on the monument depicts a naval officer complete with a sword of honor in his hand. Jalesveva Jayamahe itself means "In the Air We Win", like the slogan of the Indonesian Navy.

Uniquely, even though it has become a tourist spot, to enter this place there are strict rules. This is because the location of the monument is at the TNI-AL Headquarters.

Entering the inside of the monument, tourists will see many interesting things. Inside the monument, there are various kinds of dioramas about Indonesia's maritime history. There are also miniature warships of various models from time to time.

In addition to miniatures, the collection of photos of warships that are sailing is also very complete. In another part of the room, tourists can see various award trophies that have been won by the Indonesian Navy.



Upstairs, various collections of interesting photos are presented in this room. Pictures of various TNI-AL activities to photos of TNI-AL chiefs from time to time can be studied by tourists. As a keepsake, tourists can also buy various naval-themed knick-knacks at the souvenir shop inside the monument.

Tourists can get to the top of the monument by climbing the stairs. From the top, an extraordinary view will be clearly visible. The charm of passing ships and the northern city of Surabaya can be seen. In addition, the view of the Suramadu Bridge which is the link between Surabaya and Madura can also be seen from here.

From the top of the Jalesveva Jayamahe monument, tourists can also see up close the statue of a naval officer which is the hallmark of this monument. The carvings of I Nyoman Nuarta's figure look very beautiful and detailed when viewed up close. A little information that I Nyoman Nuarta is an artist who also made the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue which is already very well known in Bali.

Outside the monument building, tourists can see several warships leaning on the waterfront of the TNI-Navy headquarters. One of the most popular is the Dewa Ruci Warship. This is a legendary warship belonging to the Indonesian Navy and is the largest in size. The Dewa Ruci ship in its history has circled the world twice, in 1964 and 2012.

Apart from its history, the appearance of the Dewa Ruci Ship is so extraordinary that it is very attractive to tourists. Three large sailing masts decorated with flags from various countries make this ship even more attractive.

To enter and see the beauty of the monument, tourists do not need to pay a fee. Jalesveva Jayamahe Monument is open every Monday to Friday from 07.00 am to 15.00 pm.

This monument is located at the TNI-AL headquarters which is located at Fleet Timur Ujung, Ujung, District. Semampir, Surabaya. From downtown Surabaya, it is about 8.5 kilometers and can be reached in 20-30 minutes.
