Kenduri Ule Lhueng, Acehnese Traditional Ceremony

Holiday Ayo - The Keluwat or Kluet tribes are a tribe who live in several areas in South Aceh Regency. Ethnically, the people of the Kluet Tribe are included in one of the Batak clumps, specifically the North Batak.

One of the traditional Acehnese ceremonies and cultural traditions that is still maintained today by the Kluet Tribe is a ceremony held by farmers when working on the fields.

This traditional ceremony begins when the farmers go down to the fields to harvest the rice and process it. Each stage of this ceremony has its own ceremony. For example, when farmers first go down to the fields, a ceremony is usually called Kenduri Ule Lhueng or Babah Lhueng.

This feast is carried out when water begins to enter the groove and later the water will irrigate the fields. In the process, usually the farmers will cut an animal, usually the animal that is cut is a buffalo.

Then after the rice is approximately one to two months old, the people of the Kluet Tribe will hold Kenduri Kani. Kenduri Kanji implementation is only in the form of a ceremony to deliver porridge to the rice fields led by an interpreter biyo or kerun striped.

Then when the period of pregnancy is approaching or when the rice has been filled, the farmers will hold the Kenduri Sawah ceremony. This one feast has different names depending on which area.

Then in the days after cutting and harvesting rice, the farmers do Keunduri Pade Baro. This kenduri ceremony is usually carried out more simply by each of the farming families in their own homes with the aim of taking blessings.

Of the many stages of the Kluet Tribe's traditional rice field ritual ceremony, the first feast was held on a large scale. This series of traditional ceremonies, for the Kluet Tribe community, is an embodiment of prayer and gratitude to God for giving an abundance of fortune.
