Komodo Airport Seems Quiet Due to Planned Tariff Changes for Komodo National Park

Holiday Ayo - The aftermath of the planned tariff change for Komodo National Park as a Premium tourist destination. A number of tourism actors in Labuan Bajo decided to strike or stop operating temporarily. The impact of this strike was seen at Komodo Airport, Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Monday (1/08/2022).

As reported by Antara, the international class airport has been quiet ever since 10:00 am. The scenery is much different when compared to the previous days, especially when the holiday season arrives.

Indeed Labuan Bajo with Padar Island, Rinca to Komodo is one of the most beautiful attractions in Indonesia.

Airports are usually also busy with many travel agents picking up their guests. The arrival gate is also crowded with tourists who come. However, last Monday Komodo Airport seemed quiet and different from usual.

Because of this strike, some tourists were not picked up by travel agents. To anticipate this kind of thing, the local government has provided transportation and officers to help tourists who face obstacles.

For information, this strike is the fruit of an agreement by a number of tourism actors in Labuan Bajo to temporarily stop tourism services as a form of protest over the increase in tariffs to IDR 3.75 million.

The strike is planned to continue until August 30. Not long ago the implementation of the new tariff increase for Borobudur Temple, now an increase is happening in Komodo National Park until the government set a tariff of IDR 3.75 million from the previous IDR 150,000 per person.

This tariff determination will continue to be disseminated by the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial government. None other than this socialization related to conservation areas, where the increase in Komodo National Park tickets is valid for visitors who enter the islands of Padar and Komodo only.

"We will conduct socialization to the public regarding the tariff for entering the Komodo National Park (TNK) area, namely Komodo Island and Padar Island. In addition, there will also be restrictions on the number of visitors on the two islands," said NTT Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat in his office, Monday (1/8).

"The implementation of the tariff will continue to apply from today and we will continue to evaluate and disseminate information to the public," said the VBL Governor.

The high price of this entrance fee aims to protect the conservation area from many visitors so that its sustainability is maintained and as an additional budget for managing national parks in Indonesia. Where conservation parks definitely require a high budget.

The existence of the implementation of conservation on the island of Komodo considering that this island is the only one in the world, especially in East Nusa Tenggara.
