Nasi Lesah, a Rare Culinary from Magelang which is Similar to Soto

Holiday Ayo - The city of Magelang has a culinary called nasi lesah. This food is also known as the typical Magelang doto. At first glance, this nasi lesah is indeed almost similar to soto, to be precise, Soto Betawi, whose soup is made from coconut milk. From there, we can tell that this lesah rice has a strong savory taste from the coconut milk.

In addition, what distinguishes nasi lesah from soto in general is that if soto is usually served in a bowl, lesah rice is served in a plate. In addition to using coconut milk, lesah rice also has supporting ornaments as in Soto dishes in general. Namely shredded chicken, cabbage pieces, vermicelli, celery, and sprouts. In addition, the coconut milk sauce on lesah rice is mixed with chicken broth so that the taste is even stronger.

Nasi lesah is also an embodiment of local wisdom which is considered rare because only a few places sell this dish. Among the few stalls selling nasi lesah are Warung Makan (WM) D'Lesah on Kalingga Street, Number 15, Magelang City.

Uniquely, in addition to serving rare culinary delights, this shop also presents an Instagramable classic atmosphere. So that the visitors who come can also take selfies besides enjoying the delicacy of nasi lesah. The classic elements in the food stall are old photos of the city of Magelang, then there are glass decorations, puppets, ancient irons, hanging lamps, and old bicycles. In addition, the classic feel is getting stronger with the strains of memorable songs from the past that were popular at that time.

Nasi Lesah is usually enjoyed with tempe mendoan or warm tofu. At this Nasi Lesah shop, the unique thing about mendoan and tofu is fried spontaneously when someone orders rice. So that mendoan is sure to be still warm when eaten. In addition, there are additional side dishes such as krecek, claws, chicken stew, fried eggs, pindang eggs, green chili tofu, quail egg satay, and clams. All the side dishes are sold from IDR 1,000 to IDR 4,000 only.

In this shop, nasi lesah is sold for iDR 8000/portion. If usually lesah rice is served in the afternoon until the evening, at Warung'Lesah it's the opposite. This shop is open from morning to evening from 06.30 WIB to 16.00 WIB. The shredded chicken used is native chicken.
