2. Tibs

Basically, this Ethiopian dish is meat sautéed with garlic and onions. Usually the people there use beef or goat meat, although they can also use other animal meat. Tibs are one of the most popular dishes in Ethiopia, so it's easy to find them when traveling in this African country. There are several variants of tibs, but the most popular is the tibs which are cooked right at the restaurant table using a traditional clay stove and wood-fired fuel.

This typical Ethiopian food is made from lean beef, actually this food is very similar to steak tartare which is a typical French food. The minced meat will be heated in a frying pan with a little butter.

Before cooking, the meat is first marinated in mimita, which is a mixture of chili-based spices, and kibber niter, which is butter dried with spices. This Ethiopian specialty is often served with a cheese called ayibe and a cooked vegetable called gomen which is chopped spinach.
