Holiday Ayo - For approximately 350 years the Indonesian nation was ruled by the Dutch. That's when the Dutch succeeded in building several important facilities, one of which was strong forts scattered throughout Indonesia.

1. Fort Vredeburg

Fort Vredeburg is quite famous in Yogyakarta. Fort Vredeburg is a silent witness to historical events that occurred in Yogyakarta when the Dutch colonial government entered Yogyakarta.

Quoting from the website of the Yogyakarta City Culture Service, the establishment of Fort Vredeburg cannot be separated from the birth of the Yogyakarta Sultanate. The Yogyakarta Sultanate Palace was first built on October 9, 1755.

After the palace began to be occupied then other supporting buildings were built such as the Gedhe Market, mosque, square and other complementary buildings. The rapid progress of the palace made the Dutch propose to the sultan to build a fort. However, it turns out that the Netherlands has a goal to control all developments that occur in the palace.

Fort Vradeburg is located on Margo Mulyo Street, Ngupasan, Kecepatan Gondomanan, Yogyakarta City. For tickets, children are charged IDR 2,000, adults IDR 3,000, and foreign tourists IDR 10,000.

2. Pendem Fortess

Pendem Fortress comes from the word "pendem" in Javanese which means buried in the ground. Launching Visit Central Java, this fort was buried under the ground, but the fort building was accidentally built underground.

This fort has the original name Kustbatterij Op De Landtong Te Tjilatjap, which means a fort building that juts out into the sea in Cilacap. This naming indicates the location of Pendem Fortress which is in the Turtle Bay area of Cilacap. The location is very strategic, close to the sea.

Pendem Fortress can be visited every day, open from 08.00-18.00. The entrance ticket is IDR 7,500 per person. Not only history, here you can also meet directly with deer that live freely in the fort area. We can also surround the fort by using a duck boat.

Location Pendem Fortress is located in the southeastern part of Cilacap City, east end of Teluk Penyu Beach, Cilacap Regency, Central Java. Also visit Teluk Turtle Beach which is in front of Fort Pendem. This Pendem Fortress area will have lots of photo spots for us to take.

3. Fort Rotterdam

Based on information from the Ministry of Education and Culture's Cultural Heritage site, Fort Rotterdam was previously a relic of the Kingdom of Gowa Tallo named Fort Jumpandang, built in the XV century.

Fort Jumpandang was damaged by the VOC invasion under the leadership of Admiral Cornelis Janszoon Speelman in 1655-1669. At that time the Kingdom of Gowa was under the reign of Sultan Hasanuddin.

As a result of this attack the Kingdom of Gowa was defeated and on November 18, 1667 the King of Gowa was imposed on the Bongaya Agreement which caused Fort Jumpandang to be handed over to the VOC, then replaced with Fort Rotterdam, according to Speelman's hometown in the Netherlands. Governor General Speelman then rebuilt the partially destroyed fort in Dutch architectural style.

Fort Rotterdam is located on Ujung Pandang Street, Bulo Gading, Ujung Pandang District, Makassar City, South Sulawesi. The ticket price to enter here is enough to pay IDR 5,000.
