Another Purpose of Flight Attendants Greet Passengers at the Airplane Door

Holiday Ayo - Travelers who board the plane will definitely be greeted by flight attendants at the door. The flight attendant will greet and greet the passengers. However, the activity was not solely to welcome airplane passengers. There is another reason why cabin crew stand by the door when passengers enter the plane.

As reported by the Independent, a flight attendant named Kat Kamalani explained the actions of her colleagues. Apart from flight attendants, Kat Kamalani herself is a TikToker who often educates netizens about aviation through her videos.

Flight attendants always stand at the door of the plane when passengers want to enter the plane. While checking plane tickets, the flight attendants also greeted passengers in a friendly manner.

But, it turns out that flight attendants don't just check flight tickets to make sure passengers don't get on the wrong plane. There are missions that flight attendants carry out by standing and watching passengers enter the plane.

Even though the moment was not long, the flight attendants paid very close attention to the arriving passengers. Apart from the entrance to the plane, flight attendants also often walk back and forth in the aisle of the cabin while paying attention to passengers.

"Have you ever walked on a plane and seen a flight attendant standing at the plane door and greeting you? Or a flight attendant walking up and down the aisle?" Kat Kamalani said.

What exactly are flight attendants looking for by paying attention to passengers? It turned out that the flight attendants were looking for Able Bodied Passangers (ABP).

ABP is a passenger who travels alone or with other passengers, who are physically fit. ABP is expected to be able to help in case of an emergency. For example, if an emergency landing occurs, the ABP is in charge of replacing the flight attendant in carrying out the evacuation.

Flight attendants usually expect ABP to work as police, army, firefighters, doctors, pilots or flight attendants who are not on duty.

When standing near the entrance to the plane, flight attendants will also keep an eye on the possibility of passengers smuggling something.

"Flight attendants' number one priority is passenger safety, so we're just looking for something that seems off the mark," he said.
