Atuh Beach, Hidden Paradise in Nusa Penida Bali

Holiday Ayo - There are many attractive beaches in Bali such as Pandawa Beach and Nusa Dua Beach. But, there is one beach in Bali that is no less interesting named Atuh Beach.

Atuh Beach is known as a tourist destination on the island of Nusa Penida, Bali, which was started when there was a Nusa Penida festival activity in 2010.

There are four coral islands in Atuh Beach, which are Batu Melawang Island, Pepadasan Island, Batu Abah, Batu Paon and Jineng Hill.

The History of Atuh Beach
Starting from a spring that never dries up, the local people give it the name Atuh Beach, which has a meaning taken from the syllable :

"A" which means NO
"Tuh" which means "DRY"

So it is assumed that the word "Atuh" the same as "never dry".

It is said that according to the story of the existence of spring on Atuh Beach, it was found by residents who saw the turtledoves drinking under a coconut tree and at night the residents received wangsit (revelations) to make a spring in the location where the turtledoves drank.


The Beauty of Atuh Beach
There is something unique about the island on Atuh Beach, which is Melawang Island or Pepadasan. The local people call it the island "Batu Bolong" which at a glance is similar to Batu Bolong Beach in Canggu and there is a myth or belief from the surrounding community, that every fishing boat that is will sail from the Atuh Beach to the open sea, which first passes through a hole in Melawang Island or Pepadasan Island and this myth is still held firmly by the surrounding community.

Not only that, not far from Atuh Beach, there is a Balinese temple that many Balinese Hindus visit, especially during Rerahinan, and what is interesting is that near the temple there are 2 springs.

The first spring is sacred to be used for the benefit of religious ceremonies. But the other spring is used by residents around the villages of Pialautan and Tanglad for their daily needs.

How to Get There
Atuh Beach is located close to Diamond Beach which is also an interesting destination on Nusa Penida Island.
Getting to Atuh Beach, we have to cross first from Sanur Bali Port to Banjar Nyuh Port which is the entrance to Nusa Penida Island.
From Banjar Nyuh Port it takes about 45 minutes to reach the entrance to Atuh Beach.

The price of the Atuh Beach entrance ticket is IDR 5,000 for one person.

The best time to visit Atuh Beach is around 05.30 local time. At these hours we can enjoy the sunrise against the background of the rock cliffs around it.

In addition, the morning air will make the trip down the stairs to Atuh Beach more comfortable.
