Following Israeli and US Attacks, Iran Vows to Rebuild Nuclear Facilities Stronger
Holiday Ayo - The Iranian government has declared that it will rebuild its nuclear sites damaged by attacks by Israel and the United States.
Tehran has vowed to rebuild its nuclear facilities "stronger than before."
US President Donald Trump previously claimed that Washington's attacks had destroyed Iran's nuclear program, but the true extent of the damage remains unclear.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, as reported by AFP on Monday (November 3), asserted that his country "will rebuild (the destroyed sites) stronger than before."
"By destroying the buildings... we will not retreat," Pezeshkian asserted during a visit to Iran's nuclear organization on Sunday (November 2 local time).
The statement was made in a video posted on the Iranian presidency's official website.
Pezeshkian said that Iranian scientists still possess the necessary nuclear knowledge.
He did not provide further explanation for his statement.
However, similar statements were made in February before the attack, with Pezeshkian asserting that Iran would rebuild its nuclear sites if attacked.
Israel launched an unprecedented wave of bombings against Iran in June, triggering a 12-day war targeting Tehran's nuclear and military facilities, as well as residential areas, which killed many of the country's nuclear scientists.
Iran retaliated with a barrage of ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli cities.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in July, after the US announced a halt to hostilities between Tehran and Tel Aviv, that the damage in Iran was "serious and severe."
Pezeshkian's latest remarks came as Oman, Tehran's traditional mediator, urged Iran and the US to revive stalled nuclear talks.
"We want to return to negotiations between Iran and the United States," Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi said at the IISS Manama Dialogue conference in Bahrain on Saturday (November 1).
Iranian government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani said on Sunday (November 2) that Tehran "has received a message" about resuming diplomacy, without providing further details.
Oman hosted five rounds of Iran-US talks this year. The sixth round of talks was halted after Israel attacked Iran about three days before the talks were scheduled to begin.
Iran has since faced the return of UN sanctions after the UK, Germany, and France triggered the "snapback" mechanism over Tehran's alleged non-compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal.
