Garuda Indonesia flies 80 thousand passengers during Eid backflow

Holiday Ayo - Garuda Indonesia and Citylink flew 80,243 passengers from a total of at least 531 flights, including around 53 extra flights on Sunday (14/4).

At the peak of the Eid return flow, there was an increase of more than 6 thousand passengers compared to the previous day served by the Garuda Indonesia Group.

Despite the increase, Garuda Indonesia is said to be maintaining consistent on time performance with an average punctuality achievement of 84.41 percent in the period 3-14 April 2024.

This includes around 53 additional flights operated during the peak momentum of the Eid backflow in 2024.

This number is represented by records of passengers flown by Garuda Indonesia reaching 37,541 passengers, while Citilink with 42,702 passengers.

Meanwhile, on Saturday (13/4), Garuda Indonesia Group flew around 73,951 passengers. The reverse flow movement trend has been visible since H+2 of Eid.

Garuda Indonesia Group estimates that this homecoming flow will continue until April 21 2024. Meanwhile, on the last day of the Eid holiday on Monday (15/4), Garuda Indonesia Group projects around 77,934 passengers, consisting of 36 thousand Garuda Indonesia passengers and 41 thousand Citilink passengers.

The President Director of Garuda Indonesia said that the momentum of Eid in 2024 is a reflection of the increasing recovery of the aviation industry after going through the pandemic situation some time ago.

This provides optimism regarding the company's performance and the company's commitment to further optimize the accessibility of safe and comfortable flight services for the public, especially during important moments such as Eid.

“Seeing the record number of passengers which continues to grow from year to year after the pandemic situation, we realize that there is a huge opportunity that must be addressed optimally in providing the best service for service users. We continue to prioritize this in order to realize optimism in achieving the company's target of achieving record number of passengers before the pandemic," said Irfaniaputra, in his statement, Sunday (14/4).

Meanwhile, in line with the increasing mobilization of people returning from their hometowns and returning from holidays, Garuda Indonesia continues to strive to optimize all its production capacity to ensure smooth and sustainable flight operations.

Garuda Indonesia implemented this by intensifying coordination with the aviation ecosystem, especially with airport service managers, in ensuring smooth flight operations for the entire community.

As part of the company's commitment, Garuda Indonesia continues to maintain the company's core values by ensuring on-time flights.

This commitment is represented through the average On-Time Performance achievement of above 84 percent during the peak season of Eid this year.

"We understand that providing premium services to answer service users' needs for safe and comfortable air transportation accessibility is our responsibility. Therefore, we always ensure that all procedures in passenger service touch points are carried out optimally and comprehensively starting from pre-flight, in-flight, to post-flight," explained Irfan.

Furthermore, during the peak momentum of the Eid backflow this year, Garuda Indonesia recorded several flight routes that were people's favorites, such as Denpasar, Surabaya, Medan, Yogyakarta, Singapore, Palembang, Makassar, Banjarmasin, Padang and Semarang.

Meanwhile, Citilink also listed several routes that are the main preferences of the public, such as Medan, Batam, Banjarmasin, Surabaya and Samarinda.

Especially for inbound flights to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, which is the main hub for community mobilization in the return flow of Eid, Garuda Indonesia Group flew at least 32,128 passengers, of which Garuda Indonesia flew 18,964 passengers and Citilink flew 13,358 passengers out of a total of 191 flights operated by Garuda Indonesia Group.

This number is still moving dynamically considering that this year's Eid backflow is projected to continue at least until next week.
