New Indonesian League Rule: Fans Prohibited from Recording Matches

Holiday Ayo -

A new regulation in the Indonesian League has sparked widespread attention on social media. The rule prohibits both spectators and journalists from recording or photographing matches using mobile phones while inside the stadium.

For officially registered journalists in the media tribune, mobile recording is considered a disruption to professional work and may constitute piracy, as all broadcast rights are exclusively held by EMTEK and I.League. Clubs and their media teams have begun educating journalists to refrain from recording during matches.

The restriction also applies to general spectators, including influencers or content creators who have purchased tickets. Recording matches is seen as potentially disturbing to other spectators and remains a violation of broadcast rights. Any video posted on social media will be monitored by EMTEK’s Anti-Piracy Team and may be removed if found in breach of the rules.

According to the circulated circular, violations of this regulation can result in content removal and even affect the social media accounts of offenders. The policy has sparked debate among the public, with some supporting the move to protect official broadcast rights, while others argue it is overly restrictive and limits fans’ freedom to share match moments on social platforms.
