President Prabowo’s Niece, Sara, Officially Resigns from Indonesian Parliament

Saraswati Djojohadikusumo, widely known as Sara and a member of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Gerindra Party, has officially announced her resignation from her legislative post for the 2024–2029 term.
The announcement was made publicly through her personal Instagram account on Wednesday (September 10).
Sara expressed her hope to complete one final agenda before stepping down—namely, the deliberation and ratification of the Tourism Bill (RUU Kepariwisataan) at Commission VII.
As for her reason to resign, Sara stated that the decision stemmed from her remarks that had sparked public criticism. She emphasized that the responsibility for the controversy lies solely with her.
She also extended her gratitude to constituents in West Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands for entrusting her with their votes in the 2024 general election.
“I sincerely apologize if there were any shortcomings or disappointments during my tenure,” she concluded.
